My work values

I was going over some best practices for organizations working remotely that one of my partners sent.

One of the points talked about making sure the values of your organization are explicit and known to everyone, specially as we are not working on the same physical environment and this may be trickier than if you are working on the same office and sharing your day to day work experiences.

I think this is a good idea.

But before we set to define what are our company values I tried to do an excercise and define what are MY work values. It was not easy but I think I am happy with the list I came up with.

I am pretty sure my values change over time. Things I value more today will be less valuable tomorrow, and so I will need to revize this once in a while. But it is good to be explicit about the things that are important.

It is not about making sure others know what is important to you, but about reminding yourself what is important, specially when the world is constantly swirling around and making it difficult to stay focus and on track all the time.
